About Eutopia

Eutopia was launched in March 1999 as a publishing (primarily but not exclusively) community, perhaps the oldest one to focus on libertarian thought/federal municipalism and social ecology at an international level, having a constant presence engaging in direct action. The publication of the Eutopia journal was released at that point, counting 28 issues today. Since 2003, its publishing activity has expanded, featuring more than 20 books on a variety of topics (e.g. anarchism, social ecology, animal rights, social history, autonomy, education, feminism, etc.). Since 2007, the library of Eutopia has been organising and has opened its doors to the public, featuring a collection of hundreds of books to date, as well as a remarkable archive related to libertarian thought and contemporary struggles for social emancipation. In the summer of 2020, the "Summer Seminar on Social Ecology" started being organised on an annual basis by Eutopia, in the region of Agrafa, Thessaly, and, in this way, expanding its educational activity, in the spirit of the almost 50-year-old Institute of Social Ecology, a founding member of which was the American libertarian thinker Murray Bookchin.
